On March 26 - 28, the 12th session of the Committee for Innovation, Competitiveness and Public-Private Partnership of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe was held in Geneva.

At the session the issues of the development of public-private partnership were considered. Elena Perminova, head of the main department of investment policy of the Ministry of Economy, took part in the session. The participants discussed the strategic areas of cooperation until 2020, the PPP standards developed by the UNECE PPP working group, as well as the PPP assessment methodology and infrastructure projects for the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, the meeting participants exchanged information on best practices in project implementation on the basis of the PPP mechanism.depositphotos_600.jpgWithin the framework of the UNECE working group on PPP, a preliminary agreement was reached on the possible allocation to Belarus of international technical assistance for capacity building and development of the PPP area within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the UNECE and the State Committee for Development and Reform of the PRC on the development of the One-Way, One Way Initiative.

During the meeting, promising areas of cooperation between Belarus and UNECE in the field of PPPs were identified. One of these areas is the possibility of providing by UNECE experts of consultative and technical assistance in developing the necessary methods and evaluating selected public-private partnership projects. Also, information work in the regions with the holding of expert seminars with representatives of the UNECE Business Advisory Council is promising. In addition, in June-July 2018 a regional forum on PPP is planned in Minsk.
