Belarus is interested in creating an Indian investment cluster in Orsha district. This was discussed by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic on International Affairs and National Security Sergei Rakhmanov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Pankaj Saxena at the meeting in Minsk.

The sides discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation, paying special attention to the opportunities for Indian companies to participate in the construction of a multimodal industrial and logistics complex in Bolbasovo, Orsha district, Vitebsk region.000021_1520267563_292916_big.jpgBelarus, as it was stressed during the meeting, is interested in creating on its base a large Indian investment cluster to attract foreign direct investment for projects in the fields of pharmaceuticals, machinery, textiles, agriculture, etc. "At this stage, it is important for us to find concrete partners with the Indian side for the implementation of projects in Bolbasovo, and we are ready to discuss possible options for cooperation, "said Sergei Rakhmanov.

In the near future a meeting will be held in the Council of the Republic under the leadership of Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the upper house, the Commissioner for Cooperation with India. The specific conditions for the implementation of projects planned in Orsha district will be considered. "We are interested in bringing representatives of the scientific and business community to the discussion, not only to plan the contemplated actions in detail, but also to effectively build an overall strategy for developing cooperation with India in priority areas," Sergei Rakhmanov added.

During the talks, the sides also discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of high technologies. "Belarus has successful experience in this field, and we could unite efforts, develop partnerships, including training of personnel for the IT industry," the Chairman of the Committee said.
