Expanding the export of goods and services to the PRC market has become a key topic of the Belarusian-Chinese business forum, held on November 7 in Shanghai on the margins of the First Chinese International Exhibition of Imported Goods and Services.

Head of the Belarusian delegation, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Nikolai Snopkov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy, Head of the Eurasian Department of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC Liu Xuesong spoke at the opening ceremony of the forum. Heads of ministries, concerns, the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park "Great Stone" and about 80 Belarusian exhibiting companies together with their Chinese partners discussed the ways and methods to promote and diversify Belarusian goods and services to the Chinese market.

“Investment is the basis for long-term partnership”- under this slogan the forum section was held, moderated by the National Agency of Investment and Privatization (NAIP).

Belarus and China can be proud of this bilateral partnership. The reports of both Belarusian and Chinese speakers proved it, various and exciting topics were also covered during the section.

From the report of Alexander Yaroshenko, director of Great Stone Industrial Park, the participants clarified why the Park is an unprecedented mode for investing on the Silk Road.

Vasily Dementey, Director of the Bremino Group, presented the special economic zone Bremino-Orsha as a logistical production hub and gateway to the EEU countries.

Our Chinese partners in the person of Hu Zheng (member of the Board of Directors of China Merchants Group, General Representative of China Merchants Group in Central Asia and the Baltic Region, Executive Director of the China-Belarus Joint Industrial Company Development Company) and Li Haixin (General Director of the Industrial Park Development Company) presented reports on the topic: “The best practices of the PRC in creating SEZs abroad by the example of Belarus “ and “Construction of infrastructure and site preparation in the Great Stone Industrial Park”.

In confirmation of successful investment relations between Belarus and China, investment projects with Chinese investments that were successfully implemented on the territory of the Republic of Belarus were presented:
1. The Belarusian-Chinese enterprise BelGee reached for the year the 4th place in sales in the market of Belarus.
2. Midea-Horizon has increased its microwave production volumes almost 10 times over the year.

Over the few days of the exhibition, more than 15 contracts, memoranda and agreements worth several tens of millions of dollars have already been signed.

One of the illustrative examples of successful cooperation was the signed memorandum on trade and economic cooperation between Great Stone Industrial Park and the Pilot Zone of Regional Trade and Economic Cooperation “China – SCO”. In addition, an agreement was signed on the creation within Great Stone of the Chengdu European Industrial Sub Park.

Also on November 7, a Eurasian seminar on trade in services was held in the framework of the China International Import Exhibition, in which the Deputy Director of NAIP Denis Meleshkin took part with a report.

“The increase in the export of Belarusian goods to China is stipulated d in Belarus at the legislative level. Thus, it is planned to increase exports by 64% by 2020 and reach $ 770 million. I would also like to note our success in investment cooperation. China’s share in the total investment in Belarus in 2017 increased by more than 2.5 times compared with 2013.

Belarus has a lot to offer our Chinese partners to ensure the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects within the framework of linking production potentials and the inclusion of Chinese companies in the share capital of Belarusian enterprises.

We are ready to develop cooperation in the fields of industry, woodworking, biotechnology, fine chemicals, logistics, agriculture, tourism and healthcare, etc., ” Denis Meleshkin noted in his report.

This event is one of the most important activities of the exhibition. The seminar participants discovered the trade and investment climate of Belarus, the prospects for cooperation between Belarus and Chinese companies.

The seminar was organized by the Shanghai Commerce Committee, the United Nations International Trade Center, ASEAN-China Center and the departments of foreign trade and economics.
