The WINVEST Belarus project was officially announced online on October 22nd. The project envisages strengthening cooperation between Belarusian and Italian small and medium-sized businesses in the light industry.

Here are main aspects that were that were touched on during the event.

Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization Dzmitry Krasouski emphasized that in the sphere of investment and trade Italy remains an important partner for Belarus. Since 2015 the Agency and the Belarusian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been implementing joint initiatives under the signed Cooperation Agreement.

The director of the Agency also pointed out that in the sphere of light industry there is a clear win-win strategy in cooperation between representatives of Belarusian and Italian businesses.

"Italy is one of the leading countries in the textile sector in terms of innovative technologies, equipment, famous brands, whereas Belarus is attractive with high-quality raw materials, high competence of specialists and readiness to implement mutually beneficial projects", - said Dzmitry Krasousky.

Deputy Ambassador Damiano La Verde made a welcoming speech on behalf of the Ambassador of Italy in the Republic of Belarus:

"We are very pleased that this project is related to one of the most developed sectors of the Italian economy. The Embassy is always very enthusiastic about projects that contribute to the development of relations between small and medium enterprises in Italy and Belarus", - emphasized the Deputy Ambassador.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Italy-Belarus" presented the project in more detail. During implementation, it is planned to carry out activities that contribute to the synergy of businesses of the two countries. "The project is designed to support Italian investments in Belarus. The aim of the project is to strengthen ties between business support organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises in Italy and Belarus. The main aim is to achieve the goals of sustainable economic development and job creation by facilitating trade, encouraging domestic investments, and developing business international ties", - noted Angelo Ilardi.

The announcement also touched on the program of the Italian side's visit to Belarus and participation in multilateral meetings and online events in the forthcoming months.

The official online announcement was joined by Chamber of Commerce and Industry "Italy-Belarus", Business Park Centro Ingrosso Sviluppo Campania, Association "Confindustria Belarus", Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurship, Experimental Laboratory for Leather and Leather Materials of Italy (SSIP), Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Industrial Park "Great Stone", Italian Confederation of Economic Development, as well as interested in the project participation medium and small businesses of our country.

The organizers expect the implementation of bold ideas of Italian and Belarusian business and the inflow of investments with the possible creation of joint Belarusian-Italian enterprises.

At this stage, there is interest in the project from Orsha, Dribin, Minsk, Soligorsk, Kobrin, Drohichen, Khoiniki, Lyakhovichi, Brest, Vitebsk, Beshenkovichi, Grodno, Dobrush and other regions of Belarus. The interested participants will soon be divided into categories depending on companies area of activity to achieve synergy with the Italian companies.

The project is implemented under the EU4BUSINESS initiative.
