The delegation of the German business community on the Eastern Committee of German Economy headed by Egbert Tölle, Board member at REMONDIS SE Concern, visited Minsk. On June 1, a meeting of representatives of German business with the Belarusian side was held at NAIP.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the heads and representatives of major German companies – AIRBUS, REWE International AG, Commerzbank AG, REMONDIS, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Belarus Peter Dettmar.

The parties discussed issues of attracting investments in the Belarusian economy. A strategy and prospects for the development of the Belarusian economy, as well as preferences for foreign investors were presented to the German business. 

 "Representatives of the German business took an active part in the discussion. I should say that they are really interested in cooperation with Belarus and intend to study in detail the specifics of doing business in the country. We, in turn, are ready to provide the German side with the necessary assistance and support, as well as to continue active negotiations," said Mikhail Dashuk, Deputy Director at NAIP.

REMONDIS is one of the largest recycling companies. Its subsidiary company – German-Belarusian JV Remondis Minsk – has been operating in the Belarusian market since 2010 and has already achieved significant success. Today the enterprise serves more than 1000 large and small organizations of Minsk and Minsk region.

There are more than 300 organizations with German capital in Belarus. 171 of them are joint ventures. Such famous German companies as Siemens, Hörmann, BAYER, Lufthansa, Henkel, etc. are represented in Belarus. Direct investments from Germany on a net basis (without taking into account the debt to the direct investor for goods, works, services) amounted to 26 million US dollars for 2016. The total volume of German investments for 2016 is 103 million US dollars.
